With the special exhibition "Flexible Housing", EXPO REAL 2025 is setting a new format that brings sustainable housing concepts to life. The exhibition transforms social, ecological and economic themes into a spatial experience - with a strong visual identity.

Housing shortages, ESG requirements and demographic change make the housing issue one of the central social challenges of our time. Flexible Housing responds to this with a thinking space that opens up future perspectives, triggers new points of view and makes complex interrelationships spatially tangible. The exhibition provides orientation - and invites visitors to think about the future of housing as part of social transformation.

The concept is based on the door as an iconic symbol of transition, opening and new spaces of possibility. The doors cover the entire exhibition space in different formats - as thematic supports, orientation points and spatial markers. While smaller doors stage curated content, large-format doors form a forum for exchange and discussion. The staging is complemented by a graphic key visual in 3D letters, which visually picks up on the symbolism of the door and creates a strong recognition value.

The Flexible Housing exhibition was staged as a highlight on 500 square meters. The spatial concept was developed in collaboration with the architects Jürgen Drändle, while Eva Maria Hermann and Markus O. Kuntscher were responsible for the curatorial management. Architecture, content and design interlock precisely and make flexibility the central principle of a sustainable living culture. Flexible Housing thus becomes a sensually tangible contribution to the discussion about the housing of tomorrow.

Housing in the human life cycle

The six central theses of the EXPO REAL housing study are impressively staged on four-meter-high, mirrored door elements. The large-format doors become spatial projection surfaces for central themes such as housing shortage, new construction and renovation - and make the study tangible as part of the exhibition.

The mirrored surfaces actively involve the visitors: they see themselves in the theme and thus become part of the staging. The doors become a symbolic stage for openness, a change of perspective and a dialog about the future of housing.
